This course is designed to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes required to develop, improve and sustain a harmonized, credible and predictable national quality of product and service delivery in the hospitality sector. The knowledge, skills and attitudes enable the trainee to plan, organize, control, evaluate and perform activities in the hospitality industry. Upon completion of the course, the trainee should be able to perform operational, supervisory and managerial duties to meet the needs of the expanding and dynamic East African culinary and accommodation sectors. It offers opportunities to both employment and business.
The course is modular by design and has three modules. Each module prepares the trainee to perform to perform a particular task. The course comprises of 60% practical aspect and 40% theory. Emerging issues and trends are addressed through research.
Trainees must complete the three modules to be awarded the Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Operations Management.
Course Duration
The course duration is 2970hours, divided into three modules after which a trainee proceeds on not less than 12weeks industrial attachment.
Entry Requirements
Minimum entry requirements for the course are;
- Passed relevant Craft course
OR
- Passed Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with an average grade of C-
OR
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)
