This is a course designed to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes required to conduct tour guiding and travel operations in the dynamic tourism industry. Upon completion of the course, the trainee should be able to plan itineraries, execute and administer tours and travel operations effectively. The course equips the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform operational, supervisory and managerial duties, all geared towards meeting the needs of the expanding and dynamic East African tourism industry. It offers opportunities for both employment and business.
The course is modular by design and has two modules. Each module prepares the trainee to perform to perform a particular task. The course comprises of 80% practical aspect and 20% theory. Emerging issues and trends are addressed through research.
Course Duration
The course duration is 1980hours, divided into two modules after which a trainee proceeds on not less than 3months industrial attachment
Entry Requirements
Minimum entry requirements for the course are;
- Passed relevant Artisan course in Tour guiding and Travel
OR
- Passed Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with an average grade of D
OR
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)
